Along with maltodextrin I use it as a gene replacement for hydration in endurance races. 2 of maltodextrin and 1 of fructose plus a teaspoon of salt to add sodium. It gives me the hc needed both slow and fast release. It is more effective than gels and much less expensive. The taste is very sweet but not cloying, similar to the sweetness of gels.
