I use it as if they were ordinary spices and it provides a very pleasant cheese-like flavor. It is a perfect substitute for salt because it adds a lot of flavor without the need to add salt. Personally I think it is better to add it once everything is cooked, because when it is dissolved the flavor is less noticeable.
